It took a while, few stumbles and delays, but there it is; I finally started my blog journey. Food is my passion and I deeply care about what is on my plate. How it is made, what it is made of, how it tastes, matters a lot to me. Is it a slice of freshly oven baked bread, or just a piece of store bought generic mass produced brand, makes an immense difference. The latter just kills the hunger while former feeds and nourishes. Tasty, healthy, nourishing food heals and makes our body strong, calms the mind, invigorates our spirit, and from there stems all our power and readiness to face the challenges of daily life.
Why blog?
I had a good fortune to grow up in time and place where good food quality was the expected and respected norm. From breakfast to dinner, meals were made from scratch, daily. Culinary skill was a source of family pride and was highly valued and cherished by all members.
Settling in North America or more specific Canada some 25 years ago, brought an amazing array of positive and beneficial aspects to my life, and for that I am grateful. People are kind, peaceful, open and respectful. It is a highly developed, modern, multicultural society, well organized, safe, with great social security net.
However, when it comes to a food, quality and general expectations are low. It seems somehow food quality takes a back seat to everything else.
Perhaps, everybody is so busy with multitude of daily tasks, from work, kid’s activities to keeping up with their favorite TV shows. In little time left, meal preparation loses its luster to fast food and snacks.
To me that was not an option and I was not about to abandon something I value so high. Life is knitted of little pleasures and enjoying great food, daily, is a key contributor to the fulfillment of a pleasant, healthy and happy life. And that is what I do. I am making fabulous meals for my family and this blog is a record of it. Nothing is off limits when it comes to cooking; preparing the most renowned and well known dishes, bakes, desserts and other, little known family recipes, but never the less great dishes.
Instead of waiting for a special holiday trip or a social event, or perhaps a good restaurant, I will make fantastic, inspiring, tasty meals at any time.
